çré-bhagavän uväca—the Supreme Personality of Godhead said; ramä-vaikuëöha-väsinyaù—the women of Ramä-Vaikuëöha; çvetadvépa-sakhé-janäù—the women of Çvetadvépa; ürdhva-vaikuëöha-väsinyaù—the women of Urdhva-Vaikuëöha; tathä—so; ajita-pada-äçrayaù—the women who have taken shelter of Lord Ajita; çré-lokäcala-väsinyaù—the women of Lokäcala; çré-sakhyo api samudra-jäù—the women born from the ocean; täù—they; gopyaù—gopés; api—also; bhaviñyanti—will become; lakñmé-pati—of Lord Näräyaëa, the husband of Lakñmé; varät—from the benediction; vraje—in Vraja.


The Supreme Personality of Godhead said: The women of Ramä-Vaikuëöha, the women of Çvetadvépa, the women of Urdhva-Vaikuëöha, the women who have taken shelter of Lord Ajita's feet, the women of Lokäcala, and the daughters of Varuëa will become gopés in Vraja because of a benediction offered by Lord Näräyaëa, the husband of Lakñmé.

käçcid divyä adivyäç ca
tathä tri-guëa-våttayaù
bhümi-gopyo bhaviñyanti
puëyair nänä-vidhaiù kåtaiù


käçcit—some; divyäù—women of the heavenly planets; adivyäù—women not from the heavenly planets; ca—and; tathä—so; tri-guëa-våttayaù—the actions of the three modes; bhümi—on the earth; gopyaù—gopés; bhaviñyanti—will become; puëyaiù—by pious deeds; nänä-vidhaiù—various; kåtaiù—done.


Some women from the heavenly planets, some women not from the heavenly planets, and some women acting in the three modes will, because of various kinds of pious activities, become gopés on the earth.

yajïävatäraà ruciraà
ruci-putraà divas-patim
mohitäù pratibhävena
vékñya deva-jana-striyaù


yajïä—as; avatäram—incarnation; ruciram—handsome; ruci-putram—the son of Ruci; divaù—of the heavenly planets; patim—the master; mohitäù—charmed; préti-bhävena—with love; vékñya—seeing; deva-jana-striyaù—the demigoddesses.


When the saw handsome Yajïa-avatära, who is the son of Ruci and the master of the heavenly planets, the demigoddesses were overcome with love for Him.

täç ca devala-väkyena
tapas tepur himäcale
bhaktyä paramayä tä me
gopyo bhävyä vraje vidhe


täù—they; ca—also; devala—of Devala Muni; väkyena—by the words; tapas tepuù—performed austerities; himäcale—in the Himalayas; bhaktyä—with devotion; paramayä—great; täù—they; me—My; gopyaù—gopés; bhävyäù—will be; vraje—in Vraja; vidhe—O Brahmä.


On Devala Muni's advice with great devotion to Me they performed austerities in the Himalayas. O Brahmä, they will become gopés in Vraja.

antarhite bhagavati
deve dhanvantarau bhuvi
auñadhyo duùkham äpannä
niñphalä bhärate 'bhavan


antarhite—disappeared; bhagavati deve dhanvantarau—when Lord Dhanvantari; bhuvi—in the earth; auñadhyaù—medicines; duùkham—unhappiness; äpannä—attained; niñphalä—fruitless; bhärate—in Bhärata-varña; abhavan—became.


When Lord Dhanvantari disappeared from the earth, all the medicines in Bhärata-varña became unhappy. They all became useless and ineffective.

siddhy-arthaà täs tapas tepuù
striyo bhütvä manoharäù
catur-yuge vyatéte tu
prasanno 'bhüd dhariù param


siddhi—perfection; artham—for the purpose; täù—they; tapas tepuù—performed austerities; striyaù—women; bhütvä—becoming; manoharäù—beautiful; catur-yuge—when the four yugas; vyatéte—had passed; tu—indeed; prasannaù—pleased; abhüt—became; dhariù—Lord Hari; param—then.


To regain their powers they transformed themselves into beautiful women and performed austerities. When four yugas had passed Lord Hari became pleased with them.


Text 8


varaà våëéta cety uktam
çrutvä näryo mahä-vane
taà dåöövä moham äpannä
ücur bhärtä bhavätra naù


varam—a benediction; våëéta—choose; ca—also; iti-thus; uktam—said; çrutvä—hearing; naryaù—the women; mahä-vane—in the great forest; tam—Him; dåöövä—seeing; moham äpannä—became enchanted; ücuù—said; bhärtä—husband; bhava—become; atra—here; naù—of us.


Seeing the Lord in a great forest, they became completely enchanted by Him. Hearing Him say, "Please choose a benediction," they said, "Please become our husband here".

çré-harir uväca
våndävane dväparänte
latä bhütvä manoharäù
bhaviñyatha striyo räse
kariñyämi vacaç ca vaù


çré-hariù uväca—Çré Hari said; våndävane—in Våndävana; dväpara-ante—at the end of Dväpara-yuga; latäù—vines; bhütvä—becoming; manoharäù—beautiful; bhaviñyatha—you will become; striyaù—women; räse—in the räsa dance; kariñyämi—I will make; vacaù—words; ca—also; vaù—of you.


Çré Hari said: In Våndävana, at the end of Dväpara-yuga, you will become flowering vines and then you will change into women in the arena of the räsa dance. I promise this to you.

çré-bhagavän uväca
bhakti-bhäva-samäyuktä
bhüri-bhägyä varäìganäù
latä-gopyo bhaviñyanti
våndäraëye pitämaha


çré-bhagavän uväca—the Supreme Personality of Godhead said; bhakti-bhäva—with devotional love; samäyuktäù—endowed; bhüri—very; bhägyäù—fortunate; vara-aìganäù—beautiful women; latä—vines; gopyaù—gopés; bhaviñyanti—will be; våndäraëye—in Våndävana; pitämaha—O Brahmä.


The Supreme Personality of Godhead said: In Våndävana they will become beautiful and very fortunate flowering-vine gopés filled with love (for Me).

jälandharyaç ca yä näryo
vékñya våndä-patià harim
ücur vayaà hariù säkñäd
asmäkaà tu varo bhavet


jälandharyaù—the women of Jälandhara; ca—and; yäù—who; näryaù—women; vékñya—seeing; våndä-patim—the husband of Våndä; harim—Lord Hari; ücuù—said; vayam—we; hariù—Lord Hari; säkñät—directly; asmäkam—of us; tu—indeed; varaù—choice; bhavet—is.


When the women of the Jälandhara country saw Lord Hari, the husband of Våndä, they said (to themselves), "May Lord Hari be our chosen husband".


Text 12


äkäça-väg abhüt täsäà
bhajatäçu ramä-patim
yathä våndä tathä yüyaà
våndäraëye bhaviñyatha


äkäça-väk—a voice from the sky; abhüt—was; täsäm—of them; bhajata—worship; äçu—at once; ramä-patim—the husband of the goddess of fortune; yathä—as; våndä—Våndä; tathä—so; yüyam—you; våndäraëye—in Våndävana; bhaviñyatha—will become.


Then a voice from the sky said to them, "Worship Lord Näräyaëa, the husband of Ramä, and in Våndävana you will become like Våndä."

samudra-kanyäù çré-matsyaà
harià dåöövä ca mohitäù
tä hi gopyo bhaviñyanti
çré-matsyasya varäd vraje


samudra-kanyäù—the daughters of Varuëa; çré-matsyam—Çré Matsya; harim—Lord Harim; dåöövä—having seen; ca—and; mohitäù—enchanted; täù—they; hi—indeed; gopygopés; bhaviñyanti—will become; çré-matsyasya—of Çré Matsya; varät—by the benediction; vraje—in Vraja.


When Varuëa's daughters saw Lord Hari as Çré Matsya, they became bewildered with love for Him. By Lord Matsya's benediction they will become gopés in Vraja.

äséd räjä påthuù säkñän
mamäàçaç caëòa-vikramaù
jitvä çatrün nåpa-çreñöho
dharäà kämän dudoha saù


äsét—was; räjä påthuù—King Påthu; säkñät—directly; mama—My; äàçaù—partial incarnation; caëòa-vikramaù—powerful; jitvä—after conquering; çatrün—His enemies; nåpa-çreñöhaù—the best of kings; dharäm—from the earth; kämän—desires; dudoha—milked; saù—He.


There was a powerful king named Påthu who was a partial incarnation of Me. After defeating His enemies, He, the best of kings, milked many desirable things from the earth.

Text 15


barhiñmati-bhaväs tatra
påthuà dåöövä pura-striyaù
atreù samépam ägatya
tä ücur moha-vihvaläù


barhiñmati-bhaväù—born in Barhiñmaté; tatra—there; påthum—Påthu; dåöövä—seeing; pura-striyaù—women of the city; atreù—of Atri Muni; samépam—near; ägatya—arriving; täù—they; ücuù—said; moha-vihvaläù—overcome with love.


When the women of Barhiñmati City saw Lord Påthu they became overwhelmed with love for Him. Approaching Atri Muni, they said:

påthuù påthula-vikramaù
kathaà varo bhaven no vai
tad vada tvaà mahä-mune


ayam—He; tu—indeed; räja—of kings; räja—of kings; indraù—the king; påthuù—Påthu; påthula-vikramaù—very powerful; katham—how?; varaù—husband; bhaven—may be; naù—of us; vai—certainly; tat—that; vada—tell; tvam—you; mahä-mune—O great sage.


"O great sage, please tell us how powerful Påthu, the king of the kings of kings, may become our husband."


Text 17


çré-atrir uväca
go-dohaà kurutäçv adya
påthvéyaà dhäraëämayé
sarvaà däsyati vo durgaà
manoratha-mahärëavam


çré-atriù uväca—Atri said; go-doham—cow's milk; kuruta—do; äçu—at once; adya—now; påthvé iyam—the earth; dharaëämayé—in meditation; sarvam—everything; däsyati—will give; vaù—to you; durgam—difficult to attain; manoratha—of desires mahä-arëavam—the great ocean.


Çré Atri Muni said: In meditation make an offering of milk to her and the earth will give you a great and impassable ocean of fulfilled desires.

manorathaà praduduhur
manaù-pätreëa täç ca gäm
tasmäd gopyo bhaviñyanti
våndäraëye pitämaha


çré-bhagavän uväca—the Supreme Personality of Godhead said; manoratham—desire; praduduhuù—milked; manaù—of the mind; pätreëa—with a milk-pail; täù—they; ca—also; gäm—the earth; tasmät—from that; gopyaù—gopés; bhaviñyanti—will become; våndäraëye—in Våndävana; pitämaha—O Brahmä.


The Supreme Personality of Godhead said: Using their thoughts as a milk-pail, they milked their desire from the cow-earth. In this way they will become gopés in Våndävana, O Brahmä.

käma-senä-mohanärthaà
divyä apsaraso varäù
näräyaëasya sahasä
babhuvur gandha-mädane


käma—of Kämadeva; senä—the army; mohana—bewilderment; artham—for the purpose; divyä—heavenly; apsarasaù—Apsarä girls; varäù—best; näräyaëasya—of Näräyaëa; sahasä—at once; babhuvuù—became; gandha-mädane—on Gandhamädana Mountain.


To bewilder Kämadeva's army, on Mount Gandhamädana Näräyaëa Åñi manifested a host of the most beautiful divine Apsarä girls.

bhärtå-kämäç ca tä äha
siddho näräyaëo muniù
manoratho vo bhavitä
vraje gopyo bhaviñyatha


bhärtå—as their husband; kämäù—desiring; ca—also; täù—to them; äha—said; siddhaù—perfect; näräyaëo muniù—Näräyaëa Åñi; manorathaù—the desire; vaù—of you; bhavitä—will be; vraje—in Vraja; gopyaù—gopés; bhaviñyatha—you will become.


When they wished Him as their husband, perfect Näräyaëa Åñi said to them, "You will become gopés in Vraja. Then your desire will be fulfilled."

striyaù sutala-väsinyo
vämanaà vékñya mohitäù
tapas taptvä bhaviñyanti
gopyo våndävane vidhe


striyaù—women; sutala—in Sutala; väsinyaù—residing; vämanam—Lord Vämana; vékñya—seeing; mohitäù—charmed; tapas taptvä—performing austerities; bhaviñyanti—will be; gopyaù—gopés; våndävane—in Våndävana; vidhe—O Brahmä.


When the women of Sutalaloka saw Lord Vämana, they fell in love with Him and (to attain Him) they performed austerities. They will become gopé in Vraja, O Brahmä.


Text 22


nägendra-kanyakäù çeñaà
bhejur bhaktyä varecchayä
saìkarñaëasya räsärthaà
bhaviñyanti vraje ca täù


näga—of snakes; indra—of the king; kanyakäù—the daughters; çeñam—Lord Çeña; bhejuù—worshiped; bhaktyä—with devotion; vara—a husband; icchayä—with the desire; saìkarñaëasya—of Lord Saìkarñaëa; räsa—of the räsa dance; artham—for the purpose;
bhaviñyanti—will be; vraje—in Vraja; ca—also; täù—they.


Snake princesses that, desiring Him as their husband, worshiped Lord Çeña, will take birth in Vraja (to attain) Lord Balaräma's räsa dance.

kaçyapo vasudevaç ca
devaké cäditiù parä
çüraù präëo dhruvaù so 'pi
devako 'vatariñyati


kaçyapaù—Kaçyapa; vasudevaù—Vasudeva; ca—and; devaké—Devaké; ca—also; äditiù—Aditi; parä—great; çüraù—Çürasena; präëaù—life; dhruvaù—Dhruva; saù—he; api—indeed; devakaù—Deavaka; avatariñyati—will descend.


Kaçyapa will descend as Vasudeva, exalted Aditi as Devaké, Präëa Vasu as Çürasena, and Dhruva Vasu as Devaka.

vasuç caivoddhavaù säkñäd
dakño 'krüro dayä-paraù
hådéko dhanadaç caiva
kåtavarmä tv apäà patiù


vasuù—Vasu; ca—also; eva—indeed; uddhavaù—Uddhava; säkñät—directly; dakñaù—Dakña; akrüraù—Akrüra; dayä-paraù—merciful; hådékaù—Hådéka; dhanadaù—Kuvera; ca—also; eva—indeed; kåtavarmä—Kåtavarmä; tindeed; apäm—of waters; patiù—the lord.


Vasu will decsned as Uddhava, Dakña as kind Akrüra, Kuvera as Hådéka, and Varuëa as Kåtavarmä.

gadaù pracénabarhiç ca
maruto hy ugrasena ut
tasya rakñaà kariñyämi
räjyaà datvä vidhänataù


gadaù—Gada; pracénabarhiù—Pracénabarhi; ca—and; marutaù—Maruta; hi—indeed; ugrasena—Ugrasena; ut—indeed; tasya—of him; rakñam—protection; kariñyämi—I will do; räjyam—the kingdom; datvä—having given; vidhänataù—properly.


Pracénabarhi will descend as Gada and Maruta as Ugrasena. I will give the kingdom to Ugrasena and I will protect him.

yuyudhänaç cämbaréñaù
prahlädaù satyakis tathä
kñéräbdhiù çäntanuù säkñäd
bhéñmo droëo vasüttamaù


yuyudhänaù—Yuyudhäna; ca—and; ambaréñaù—Ambaréña; prahlädaù—Prahläda; satyakiù—Satyakis; tathä—so; kñéräbdhiù—the ocean of milk; çäntanuù—Çäntanu; säkñät—directly; bhéñmaù—Bhéñma; droëaù—Droëa; vasüttamaù—the best of the Vasus.


Ambaréña will descend as Yuyudhäna, Prahläda as Satyaki, Kñéräbdhi as Çantanu, and Droëa Vasüttama as Bhéñma.

çälyaç caiva divodäso
dhåtaräñöro bhago raviù
päëòuù puñä satäà çreñöho
dharmo räjä yudhiñöhiraù


çälyaù—Çälya; ca—certainly; eva—indeed; divodäsaù—Divodäsa; dhåtaräñöraù—Dhåtaräñöra; bhagaù—Bhaga; raviù—Ravi; päëòuù—Päëòu; puñä—Puñä; satäm—of the devotees; çreñöhaù—the best; dharmaù—Dharma; räjä—king; yudhiñöhiraù—Yudhiñöhira.


Divodäsa will decsend as Çälya, Bhaga as Dhåtaräñöra, Puñä as Päëòu, and King Dharma, the best of the devotees, as Yudhiñöhira.

manuù sväyambhuvo 'rjunaù
çatarüpä subhadrä ca
savitä karëa eva hi


bhémaù—Bhéma; väyuù—Väyu; baliñöhaù—strong; ca—also; manuù—Manu; sväyambhuvaù—Sväyambhuva; arjunaù—Arjuna; çatarüpä—Çatarüpä; subhadrä—Subhadrä; ca—also; savitä—Savitä; karëa—Karëa; eva—indeed; hi—certainly.


Powerful Väyu will descend as Bhéma, Sväyambhuva Manu as Arjuna, Çatarüpä as Subhadrä, and Savitä as Karëa.

nakulaù sahadevaç ca
småtau dväv açviné-sutau
dhätä bählékavéraç ca
vahnir droëaù pratäpavän


nakulaù—Nakula; sahadevaù—Sahadeva; ca—and; småtau—considered; dväv açviné-sutau—the two Açviné-kumäras; dhätä—Dhätä; bählékavéraù—the hero Bähléka; ca—and; vahniù—Vahni; droëaù—Droëa; pratäpavän—powerful.


The two Açviné-kumäras will descend as Nakula and Sahadeva. Dhätä will descend as heroic Bähléka, and powerful Vahni as Droëäcärya.

duryodhanaù kaler aàço
'bhimanyuù soma eva ca
drauëiù säkñäc chivasyäpi
rüpaà bhümau bhaviñyati


duryodhanaù—Duryodhana; kaleù—of Kali; aàçaù—a part; abhimanyuù—Abhimanyu; soma—Soma; eva—certainly; ca—indeed; drauëiù—Droëa's son Açvatthämä; säkñät—directly; çivasya—of Lord Çiva; api—also; rüpam—the form; bhümau—on the earth; bhaviñyati—will be.


A partial incarnation of Kali will descend as Duryodhana. Soma will descend as Abhimanyu. Lord Çiva will place His own form on the earth as Droëäcärya's son Açvatthämä.


Text 31


itthaà yadoù kauraväëäm
anyeñäà bhü-bhujäà nåëäm
kule kule bhavantaç ca
sväàçaiù stribhir mad-äjïayä


ittham—thus; yadoù—of the Yadus; kauraväëäm—of the Kurus; anyeñäm—of others; bhü-bhujäm—kings; nåëäm—human; kule kule—in family after family; bhavantaù—being; ca—also; sva—own; aàçaiù—partial expansions; stribhiù—with their wives; mat—of Me; äjïayä—by the order.


In this way, by My order (the demigods) and their wives will take birth in the families of the Yadus, Kurus, and other human kings.

ye ye 'vatärä me pürvaà
teñäà räjïyo ramäàçakäù
bhaviñyä räja-räjïéñu
sahasräëi ca ñoòaça


ye ye—whoever; avatäräù—incarnations; me—of Me; pürvam—previously; teñäm—of Them; räjïyaù—kings; ramä—of the goddess of fortune; aàçakäù—partial expansions;
bhaviñyäù—will be; räja-räjïéñu—in queens; sahasräëi—thousands; ca—and; ñoòaça—sixteen.


Whenever in the past I incarnated in the world, the goddess of fortune would also incarnate as My queen. This time she will incarnate as My sixteen-thousand queens.

ity uktvä çré-haris tatra
brahmäëaà kamaläsanam
divya-rüpäà bhagavatéà
yogamäyäm uväca ha


çré-näradaù uväca—Çré Närada said; iti—thus; uktvä—speaking; çré-hariù—Çré Hari; tatra—there; brahmäëam—to Brahmä; kamaläsanam—who sits on a lotus throne; divya-rüpam—whose form is spiritual; bhagavatém—goddess; yogamäyäm—Yogamäayä; uväca ha—said.


Çré Närada said: After speaking these words to the demigod Brahmä, who sits on a lotus throne, Çré Hari spoke to goddess Yogamäyä, whose form is spiritual.

çré-bhagavän uväca—the Supreme Personality of Godhead said; devakyäù—of Devaké; saptamam—the seventh; garbham—embryo; sannikåñya—dragging; mahä-mateO noble-hearted one; vasudevasya—of Vasudeva; bharyäyäm—in the wife; kaàsa—of Kaàsa; träsa—of the fear; bhayät—of the fear; punaù—again; nanda—of Nanda; vraje—in Vraja; sthitäyäm—staying; ca—also; rohiëyäm—in Rohiëé; sanniveçaya—place; nanda-patnyäm—in Nanda's wife; bhava—be; tvam—you; vai—certainly; kåtvä—having done; idam—this; karma—work; ca—also; adbhutam—wonderful.


The Supreme Personality of Godhead said: O noble-hearted one, take the seventh embryo from Vasudeva's wife Devaké and place it in Rohiëé, who is staying in Vraja out of fear of Kaàsa. When you have done that wonderful deed, you yourself become an embryo in Nanda's wife.

sva-dhäma nijam äyayau


çré-näradaù uväca—Çré Närada said; çrutvä—hearing; brahmä—Brahmä; deva-gaëaiù—with the demigods; natvä—bowing; kåñëam—to Lord Kåñëa; parät—than the greatest; param—greater; bhümim—the earth; äçväsya—consoling; väëébhiù—with words; sva-dhäma nijam—each to their own abode; äyayau—went.


Çré Närada said: Hearing this, Brahmä and the demigods bowed down before Lord Kåñëa, who is greater than the greatest, and, comforted the earth-goddess, and each went to his own abode.

kaàsädénäà vadhärthäya
präpto 'yaà bhümi-maëòale


paripürëatamaà säkñät—the original Supreme Personality of Godhead; çré-kåñëam—Çré Kåñëa; viddhi—know; maithila—O king of Mithilä; kaàsa—by Kaàsa; ädénäm—headed by; vadha—killing; arthäya—for the purpose; präptaù—attained; ayam—He; bhümi-maëòale—on the circle of the earth.


O king of Mithilä, please understand that Çré Kåñëa, who went to the earth to kill the demons headed by Kaàsa, is the original Supreme Personality of Godhead.

roma-mätraà tanau jihvä
bhavantétthaà yadä nåpa
tadäpi çré-hares tasya
varëyate na guëo mahän


roma-mätram—hairs; tanau—on the body; jihväù—tongues; bhavanti—are; ittham—then; yadä—when; nåpa—O king; tadä—then; api—even; çré-hareù—of Çré Hari; tasya—of Him; varëyate—is described; na—not; guëaù—glory; mahän—great.


O king, If I had as many tongues as there are hairs on my body, I could still not properly describe Çré Hari's great and glorious qualities.

nabhaù patanti vihagä
yathä hy ätma-samaà nåpa
tathä kåñëa-gatià divyaà
vadantéha vipaçcitaù

O king, as different birds have different capacities to fly in the sky, so the wise philosophers have different capacities to describe Lord Kåñëa's transcendental activities.
