Oración de Madre Yaśodā, Rohiṇī y de las Gopīs para proteger al niño Kṛṣṇa:

Las gopīs, al ver que el pequeño Kṛṣṇa jugaba sin ningún temor en el regazo de Pütanā, se acercaron rápidamente, y lo recogieron en sus brazos. Madre Yaśodā, Rohiṇī, y otras gopīs de mayor edad, llevaron a cabo inmediatamente los rituales propicios, tomando la cola de una vaca y dando vueltas alrededor del cuerpo de El. Al niño lo lavaron perfectamente con orina de vaca, y le echaron por todo el cuerpo el polvo que levantan los cascos de las vacas. El objeto de esto era proteger al pequeño Kṛṣṇa de futuros accidentes desfavorables. Este incidente nos da una indicación clara de la importancia de las vacas en relación con la familia, la sociedad, y, en general, con los seres vivientes. El cuerpo trascendental de Kṛṣṇa no necesitaba de ninguna protección. Pero, a fin de enseñarnos la importancia de las vacas, al Señor se le untó estiercol de vaca por todas partes, se le lavó con orina de vaca y se le roció con el polvo que levantan las vacas al caminar.

Despues de este proceso purificatorio, las gopīs, con madre Yaśodā y Rohiṇī a la cabeza, cantaron doce nombres de Viṣṇu para proteger por completo el cuerpo de Kṛṣṇa de toda mala influencia. Las gopīs lavaron sus manos y sus pies y bebieron tres sorbos de agua, tal como se acostumbra antes de cantar un mantra. El canto de las gopis decía así:

Amado Kṛṣṇa, que la Suprema Personalidad de Dios, el Innaciente, proteja Tus pies; que el Señor, a quien se conoce como Maṇimān, proteja Tus muslos; que el Señor Viṣṇu, conocido como Yajña, proteja Tus piernas; que el Señor Acyuta proteja Tus brazos; que el Señor Hayagrīva proteja Tu abdomen; que el Señor Keśava proteja Tu corazón; que el Señor Viṣṇu proteja Tus brazos; que el Señor Urukrama proteja Tu rostro; que el Señor Īśvara proteja Tu cabeza; que el Señor Cakradhara proteja Tu pecho; que el Señor Gadādhara proteja Tu espalda; que el Señor Madhusūdana, quien lleva un arco en Su mano, proteja Tu lado derecho; que el Señor Viṣṇu proteja Tu lado izquierdo con Su caracola; que Upendra, la Personalidad de Dios, Te proteja desde arriba, y que el Señor Tārkya Te proteja desde debajo de la tierra; que el Señor Haladhara Te proteja desde todas partes; y que la Personalidad de Dios conocido como Hṛṣīkeśa proteja todos Tus sentidos; que el Señor Nārāyaṇa proteja Tus aires vitales, y que el Señor de Śvetadvīpa, Nārāyaṇa, proteja Tu corazón; que el Señor Yogeśvara proteja Tu mente; que el Señor Pṛśnigarbha proteja Tu inteligencia, y que la Suprema Personalidad de Dios proteja Tu alma. Que mientras Tú juegues, el Señor Govinda Te proteja desde todas partes, y que mientras duermas, el Señor Mādhava Te proteja de todo peligro. Que el Señor de Vaikuṇṭha evite que Te caigas mientras caminas, y Te brinde plena protección cuando estes sentado. Y que el Señor de todos los sacrificios Te de Su completa protección cuando comas.” (Libro de Ksna, Capítulo 6º, págs. 48-49).
