Sürya-tirtha

At Sürya-tirtha, Süryadeva, the Sungod, with his twelve different aspects (dvädasa-kalä), is always absorbed in serving his worshipful deity, Shri Krishna. Because of this, Mahäräja Bali, the son of Virocana, worshipped Süryadeva here, and was granted his desired result. By taking bath at Sürya-tirtha on a Sunday, during sankränti , or at the time of a solar or lunar eclipse, one achieves the result of performing a räjasüya-yajna, and after liberation attains the abode of the Supreme Lord. A deity of Bali Mahäräja, along with his worshipful deity, Shri Vämanadeva, resides in a temple nearby.

Dhruva-tirtha

After being pierced by the arrow-like words of Suruci, his stepmother, five-year-old Dhruva came to the forest at Dhruva-tirtha on the advice of his mother, Sunéti. At this ghat Dhruva met Devrishii Närada, who instructed him to bathe here and gave him a twelve-syllable mantra. Dhruva then journeyed to the isolated highlands of Madhuvana, where he worshipped the Supreme Lord by performing severe austerities, and finally received His darsana.

Nava-tirtha (Askunda-ghät )

Nava-tirtha is situated north of the famous Asikunda, or Askunda-ghät, which lies near Visräma-ghat. All the sins of those who bathe in Asi-kunda are destroyed, whether they are sins of body, mind or words. By taking bath at Nava-tirtha, one’s bhakti develops to newer and higher stages. There is no sacred place greater than this, nor will there ever be.

Soma-tirtha (Gau-ghät)

Those who sprinkle themselves with the pure water of the Yamunä at Soma-tirtha will have all their cherished desires fulfilled

Sarasvati-patana-tirtha (Krishna ganga-ghat)

Sarasvati-patana-tirtha lies near Gau-ghät, or Soma-tirtha. The river Sarasvati used to meet the Yamunä here. Another name of the river Sarasvati is Shri Krishna-gangä. This tirtha is therefore also known as Krishna-gangä-ghät.

This ghät is related to Shri Krishna-dvaipäyana Vedavyäsa. He took birth from Matsyagandhä Satyavati and Maharishi Päräsara on an island in the Yamunä near here.

Some say that Shri Vyäsadeva composed Shrimad-Bhägavata here, and this is correct. Shrimad-Bhägavata is the treatise for the topmost transcendentalist, and is known as the Paramahansa samhitä. Vedavyäsa took instruction from Devarishi Närada.

Through his practice of bhakti-yoga, he saw the Absolute Truth, Shri Krishna, and all His pastimes in Vraja, Mathurä and Dvärakä. How else could he have had darsana of Shri Krishna and describe the sweetest of His sweetest pastimes without having performed worship in Vraja-dhäma, the sweetest of all sacred abodes? This is the opinion of learned devotees who are able to extract the essence of scripture.

One who bathes here is relieved from all types of sin and attains love of God. Even people of low caste become paramahamsas, or the best of devotees, by bathing here.
