ISKCON Melbourne, AU: Snana Yatra 2010
Here is what you have all been waiting for:
last Sunday's Snana Yatra blissful slideshow of
happy souls,
smiling faces
and busy servants
going about their loving 'busyness' for Lord Jaganatha's enjoyment.
ISKCON Melbourne, AU: Today's Darsana
As the year 2010 winds up and as year 2011 unfolds by the hour,
we sincerely thank the presiding Deities of Melbourne for so kindly gracing us with Their merciful darsana every single day, without fail.
We pray that we may be as consistent in our service to Them for Their pleasure.
Just as Suryadeva rises dutifully every morning to provide the citizens of the world with life-giving light and warmth, may our hearts always radiate such light and warmth as to positively touch the lives of the people we meet on our sojourn.
Let it be our contribution to the Sankirtan movement of Srila Prabhupada to bring as many people as possible to relish the darsana of Sri Sri Gaura Nitai, Sri Sri Radha Ballabha and Sri Jaganatha, Baladeva and Subhadra Mayi.
Here's the slideshow for the closure of 2010; see you tomorrow for the auspicious beginning of 2011.Subhavilasa das ACBSP, Toronto, CA: Soothing indeed...
Below is an excerpt of an article that appeared in yesterday's Montreal Gazette. Sriman George Harrison and this record introduced countless souls to Krishna and certainly made more than a few devotees. In the meantime there has been a new generation of devotees and a new era. Most of today's general youth population has never heard this record or the transcedental sound vibration. It would make for an amazing preaching tool to reintroduce this album on a grand scale and as part of ISKCON book distribution. Perhaps as a "bonus" CD with purchase of a Bhagavad Gita or Big book. Just an idea to harness some of the lustrous ISKCON legacy and to re-introduce an album that Srila Prabhupada greatly appreciated.Apple box set a fascinating snapshot of an era
Apple’s most unlikely hit single was Govinda, by the Radha Krishna Temple, another Harrison project, featuring a group of followers of the Hare Krishna movement singing a hymn to Krishna as a youth. Open-minded listeners will find The Temple’s ensuing self-titled album (three stars) oddly soothing.

Bharatavarsa.net: Bhakti Vikasa Swami: Predictions from 1972
Syamasundara: I'll read you some of their predictions. They're very frightening. They say by 1980 -- that's eight years from now -- that they will be able to create synthetic life in the form of artificial viruses which will be used to cure some forms of genetic diseases. Artificial life. In eight years they say they will have artificial life. Prabhupada: And that artificial life? Syamasundara: Small viruses or living organisms, very small. But by the year 2000 they say they will be able to keep... Prabhupada: 2000! Syamasundara: Yes. That's twenty-eight years from now. They say that they will be able to deep-freeze embryos, that means unborn babies, as insurance against nuclear holocaust and for interplanetary colonization. In other words, they can send these unborn babies in frozen form to other planets and have an arrangement for them to be born and grow in the spaceship and then go out. Prabhupada: Don't waste your time with these rascals. Syamasundara: They'll have an artificial and mechanical baby factory, effective control of most human defects. Single-celled life will be created from chemicals off the shelf. They can make intelligent animals to do menial work. And then in seventy-eight years they say that they will be able to regenerate... Prabhupada: Just like there was Pan American, they were selling tickets for going to Candraloka. Reservation.

Bharatavarsa.net: Bhakti Vikasa Swami: New Year, New York, 1967
“For us, every day is New Year’s,” Swamiji says. “Krishna is always new, always fresh, and we are always celebrating Him. Just see how these people in maya are celebrating, drinking poison to forget everything! Because they are frustrated, they want to forget. But for a devotee, it is just the opposite. The devotee wants to remember Krishna at all times.”

David Haslam, UK: Removing the stones, a gardening thought
I’ve finally finished a job that was started some weeks ago, that of double digging my garden something that has been put off over the past few years although deep down I knew it needed to be done. It’s a small vegetable patch that has not done too well unless it’s strawberries or potatoes, after [...]
Akrura das, Gita Coaching: CATCH A FISH
There is a Bengali proverb that states: “I’ll catch the fish, but I will not touch the water.” That type of intelligence is required.
In America we see many old men on the beach who have retired from their business to waste their time trying to catch fish. They are not very cautious, and they touch the water.
However, we have to live in this material world in such a way that we do everything for Kṛṣṇa but do not touch the water of the material world. In this way, we will have no attachment to things of this material world.
We may have many great temples, but we should not be attached to them. It is for Kṛṣṇa’s sake that we construct temples, but we must understand that the temples are Kṛṣṇa’s property. Our mission is to teach people that everything belongs to Kṛṣṇa. Only a thief will occupy something belonging to another and claim it to be his.
The Kṛṣṇa consciousness movement preaches that everything belongs to Kṛṣṇa and that everything should be utilized for Kṛṣṇa’s benefit. He is the beneficiary of everything, and it is to our benefit that we come to this knowledge.
Īśāvāsyam idaṁ sarvam. If one realizes that everything belongs to Kṛṣṇa, one becomes the greatest mahātmā. Being a mahātmā does not mean that one wears a big beard and a particular type of dress. No, this awareness must be there. Whatever we have should be offered to Kṛṣṇa.

How Much Can We Take
Toronto, Ontario
We all have trouble with people as much as we share joy with them. There is a person who comes around to the temple ashram whom everyone is rather tolerant of. I would describe this person as having eccentricities and speaks in such a way as it goes over top of your heads, or sideways or something or other. He’s amiable for sure, and there’s an incredible gentleness to him. He has been a walking partner for me at spontaneous moments for short jaunts. In that regards he’s a friend. It’s just the platform from which he appears to come from. It just seems that he sometimes comes from another planetary system with all due respect.
I was just about to take my daily trek when the person asked if I had a minute to spare. That moment turned into a Brahma’s moment which in a vedic context lasts thoudands of years. Before speaking I asked if it could be a subject matter relevant to the 21st century, but in my assessment it was not. I left for my walk fairly abruptly.
While descending some stairs to leave I had to ask myself if I was justified in being intolerant by not hearing the person out. A supportive tap on my back came from my peer suggested, “don’t worry I can handle the situation, go for your walk!” My analysis brought me to this point, as long as minor disturbances is balanced by positive engagement then we will tolerate. As long as a person speaks favorably of the process of the spiritual path and others there is a heart-warming voice that says, “yes we will share space with you but I have limited time and time is precious.”
I would also add that one such person in the space of thirty could be accommodated but more than that I don’t believe so.
I wish our friend the best. Life for him is a struggle like anyone else. He needs encouragement but also needs reminding of how much people can bear. We just need to be polite about it.

Japa Group: Your Inner Level Of Inspiration
Hare Krsna dear devotees, below is an interview with H.H. Sacinandana Swami for a Magazine, in the following question he talks about chanting as a technique to access the stream of love inside the heart. Can you give our readers an ancient spiritual technique which helps them quickly to energize themselves?
Yes, I would like to teach you the simple technique of living in a spiritual circle. We all know how a strong immune system protects our health. When the immune system is not so strong diseases can easily come and make us ill. So there is an ancient technique called establishing a spiritual circle which helps you to develop your spiritual immune system. This spiritual immune system acts like a protective circle which fulfils two functions. It helps you not to be disturbed by outside influences but it also builds up your inner blissfulness and energy. You could compare it almost with a tire, which you can blow up so that it is very strong. Building the spiritual circle can be done by having good, encouraging and inspiring association with spiritually-minded people.
It can be also made by reading daily sacred scriptures which will expand your inner level of inspiration.
The spiritual circle can be established by chanting daily sacred mantras which will increase the spiritual vibrations in your existence. All these techniques will quickly help you to access that stream of love inside your heart. With these simple practices you can easily access that unlimited reservoir of love. Just don’t allow that the false ego comes and blocks it again.
Thank you very much.Interview for the magazine 108 in Moscow - March 21, 2008
I wish you a very Happy 2011, full of great realisations in chanting and that you can be able to love the Lord more and more through this chanting and serving.
your servant,
Aruna devi
