Mathuräyäà Çré Kåñëa-praveçaù

Çré Kåñëa's Entrance Into Mathurä

Text 1

çré-närada uväca

harir akrüra-rämäbhyäà

mathuropavanaà gataù

yamunä-nikaöaà sthitvä

vari pétvä rathaà yayau

akrüra-rämäbhyäm—with Akrüra and Balaräma; mathuropavanam—to

the graden of Mathurä; gataù—wnet; yamunä-

nikaöam—near the Yamunä; sthitvä—staying; vari—the

water; pétvä—drinking; ratham—to the chariot;

yayau—went;

Çré Närada said: Accompanied by Balaräma and Akrüra, Kåñëa

went to Mathurä's gardens by the Yamunä's shore, drank some

water, and returned to the chariot.

akrüras täv anujïäpya

snätuà çré-yamunäà gataù

nitya-naimittikaà kartuà

viveça vimale jale

akrüraù—Akrüra; täv—Them; anujïäpya—obtaining permission; snätum—to bath; çré-

yamunäm—to Çré Yamunä; gataù—went; nitya-

naimittikam—his regular bath; kartum—to do;

viveça—wntereed; vimale—the pure; jale—water.

Atter taking permission from Kåñëa and Balaräma, Akrüra went

to the Yamunä and entered the water to take his regular bath.

mahä-varta-samäkule

dadarça räma-kåñëau tau

vadantau gandiné-sutaù

jale—in the water; ca—and; agädha-gambhére——very

deep; mahä-varta-samäkule—very turbulent;

dadarça—saw; räma—Balaräma; kåñëau—and Kåñëa;

tau—Them; vadantau—speaking; gandiné-sutaù—Akrüra.

In the deep and turbulent water Akrüra saw Kåñëa and

Balaräma conversing.

vismitas tau rathe 'paçyat

punar väri sthitau nåpa

dadarça tatra sarpendraà

kuëòalé-bhütam ästhitam

vismitaù—astonished; tau—Them; rathe—on the

chariot; apaçyat—saw; punaù—again; väri—in the

water; sthitau—standing; nåpa—O king;

dadarça—saw; tatra—there; sarpendram—the king of

snakes; kuëòalé-bhütam—coiled-up; ästhitam—situated.

O king, when he looked and saw Them both sitting on the

chariot, Akrüra was very surprised. He looked again into the

water and saw Ananta Çeña coiled again and again, . . .

tasyotsaìge mahä-lokaà

golokaà loka-vanditam

govardhanädrià yamunäà

våndäraëyaà manoharam

tasya—of Him; utsaìge—on the lap; mahä-lokam—the

great planet; golokam—Goloka; loka-vanditam—worshiped

by the worlds; govardhanädrim—Govardhana Hill;

yamunäm—tye y; våndäraëyam—Våndävana;

manoharam—beautiful.

On Çeña's lap he saw Våndävana forest, the Yamunä,

Govardhana Hill, and the transcendental realm of Goloka, which is

worshiped by all the worlds.

asaìkhya-koöi-märtaëòa-

jyotiñaà maëòalaà prabhum

paripürëatamaà säkñäc

chré-kåñëaà puruñottamam

asaìkhya—countless; koöi—millions; märtaëòa—of

suns; jyotiñam—effulgence; maëòalam—circle;

prabhum—the Lord; paripürëatamam—the perfect Supreme

Personality of Godhead; säkñäc—directly; çré-

kåñëam—Çré Kåñëa; puruñottamam—the Supreme Person.

On Çeña's lap Akrüra also saw Lord Kåñëa, the perfect

Supreme Personality of Godhead, glorious as countless millions of

suns, . . .

koöi-manmatha-lävaëyaà

räsa-maëòala-madhya-gam

rädhayä sahitaà devaà

taträkrüro dadarça ha

koöi—millions; manmatha—of Kämadevas;

lävaëyam—handsomeness; räsa-maëòala-madhya-gam—in the middle

of theb räsa-dance circle; rädhayä—with Rädhä;

sahitam—with; devam—the Lord; tatra—there;

akrüraù—Akrüra; dadarça—saw; ha—indeed.

. . . and more handsome than millions of Kämadevas, standing

with Rädhä in the räsa-dance circle.

jïätvä kåñëaà paraà brahma

natvä natvä punaù punaù

kåtäïjali-puöo 'krüraù

stutià cakre 'ti-harñitaù

jïätvä—understanding; kåñëam—Lord Kåñëa;

param—the Supreme; brahma—Brahman; natvä—bowing; natvä—and bowing; punaù—again; punaù—and again; kåtäïjali-puöaù—with folded hands;

akrüraù—Akrüra; stutim—prayers; cakre—did; ati-

harñitaù—jubilant.

Aware that Çré Kåñëa is the Supreme Personality of Godhead,

Akrüra bowed down again and again and again. Filled with joy, he

folded his hands and spoke many prayers.

Çré Akrüra said: Obeisances to Çré Kåñëacandra, the perfect

Supreme Personality of Godhead! Obeisances to Çré Kåñëa, the

master of numberless universes, the master of Goloka!

çré-rädhä-pataye—the master of Rädhä; tubhyam—to

You; vrajädhéçäya—the king of Vraja; te—to You; namaù—obeisances; namaù—obeisances; çré-nanda-

puträya—the son of Nanda; yaçodä-nandanäya—the son of

Yaçodä; ca—and.

Obeisances to You, the master of Rädhä and the king of

Vraja! Obeisances to You, the son of Nanda and Yaçodä!

devaké-suta govinda

väsudeva jägat-pate

yadüttama jagan-nätha

pähi mäà puruñottama

devaké-suta—O son of Devaké; govinda—O Govinda;

väsudeva—O son of Vasudeva; jägat-pate—O master of the

universes; yadüttama—O best of the Yädavas; jagan-

nätha—O master of the universes; pähi—please protect;

mäm—me; puruñottama—O Supreme Person.

O son of Devaké and Vasudeva, O Govinda, O best of the

Yädavas, O master of the universes, O Supreme Personality of

Godhead, please protect me!

väëé sadä te guëa-varëane syät

karëau kathäyäà mama doç ca karmaëi

manaù sadä tvac-caraëäravindayor

dåçau sphurad-dhäma-viveça-darçane

väëé—words; sadä—always; te—of You; guëa-

varëane—describing the virtues; syät—is; karëau—the

ears; kathäyäm—in the narrations; mama—my;

doç—arms; ca—and; karmaëi—in the works;

manaù—mind; sadä—always; tvac-caraëäravindayoù—in Your

lotusa feet; dåçau—eyes; sphurad-dhäma-viveça-

darçane—in seeing Your glory.

May my words always describe Your transcendental qualities,

my ears always hear descriptions of You, my arms always work for

You, my mind always think of Your lotus feet, and my eyes always

see the splendid glory of Your transcendental form.

evaà saàstuvatas tasya

paçyato vismitasya ca

tatraiväntardadhe kåñëaù

sa-loko bhagavän prabhuù

çré-närada uväca—Çré Närada said; evam—thus;

saàstuvataù—pryaing; tasya—of him;

paçyataù—gazing; vismitasya—astonished; ca—and;

tatra—there; eva—indeed; antardadhe—disappeared; kåñëaù—Lord Kåñëa; sa-lokaù—with His realm;

bhagavän prabhuù—the Supreme Personality of Godhead.

Çré Närada said: As astonished Akrüra was speaking these

prayers, the Supreme Lord Kåñëa in His transcendental realm

suddenly disappeared.

natvä taà ca tadäkrüraù

kåtvä naimittikaà vidhim

jïätvä kåñëaà paraà brahma

vismito ratham äyayau

natvä—bowing down; tam—to Him; ca—and;

tadä—then; akrüraù—Akrüra; kåtvä—doing;

naimittikam—regular; vidhim—duties; jïätvä—knowing; kåñëam—Kåñëa; param—the Supreme; brahma—Brahman; vismitaù—astonished; ratham—to the

chariot; äyayau—went.

Bowing down, finishing his regular duties, and now acutely

aware of Lord Kåñëa's divinity, astonished Akrüra returned to the

chariot.

dinätyaye räma-kåñëäv

anayad gandiné-sutaù

rathena väyu-vegena

snigdha-gambhéra-nädinä

dina—of the day; atyaye—at the end; räma-

kåñëäv—Kåñëa and Balaräma; anayat—led; gandiné-

sutaù—Akrüra; rathena—by chariot; väyu—wind;

vegena—with the speed; snigdha—gambhéra-nädinä—with a sound

like thunder.

Driving a chariot that rumbled like thunder and went as fast

as the wind, at the day's end Akrüra took Kåñëa and Balaräma to

the gardens outside Mathurä.

purasyopavane tatra

vékñya nandaà yadüttamaù

akrüraà präha vihasan

megha-gambhérayä girä

purasya—of ther city; upavane—in the gardens;

tatra—there; vékñya—seeing; nandam—Nanda;

yadüttamaù—the best of the Yädavas; akrüram—to Akrüra; präha—said; vihasan—smiling; megha-gambhérayä—like

thunder; girä—with words.

When He saw Nanda there in Mathurä's gardens, Lord Kåñëa

smiled and spoke to Akrüra with words like thunder.

çré-bhagavän uväca

mathuräyäà hi gantavyaà

bhavatä sva-rathena vai

gopälaiù sahitaù paçcäd

ägamiñyämi mänada

çré-bhagavän uväca—the Supreme Personality of Godhead

said; mathuräyäm—in Mathurä; hi—indeed;

gantavyam—should be gone; bhavatä—by you; sva-

rathena—by your chariot; vai—indeed; gopälaiù—with the

gopas; sahitaù—with; paçcät—after; ägamiñyämi—I

will come; mänada—O respectful one.

The Supreme Personality of Godhead said: Humble Akrüra,

please take your chariot inside Mathurä City. Accompanied by the

gopas, I will enter the city later.

deva-deva jagan-nätha

govinda puruñottama

sahägrajaù sa-gopälo

gaccha me mandiraà prabho

çré-akrüra uväca—Çré Akrüra said; deva-deva—O master of

the dfemigods; jagan-nätha—O master of the universes; govinda—O Govinda; puruñottama—O Supreme Person;

sahägrajaù—with Your elder brother; sa-gopälaù—with the

gopas; gaccha—please; me—my; mandiram—home; prabhaù—O Lord.

Çré Akrüra said: O master of the demigods, O master of the

universes, O Govinda, O Supreme Person, taking with You Your

elder brother and Your gopa friends, please agree to visit my

home.

padäravinda-rajasä

pavitré-kuru mad-gåham

tvaà vinä na gamiñyämi

mandiraà svaà jägat-pate

pada—feet; aravinda—lotus; rajasä—with the

dust; pavitré-kuru—please purify; mad-gåham—my

home; tvam—You; vinä—except for; na—not;

gamiñyämi—I will go; mandiram—home; svam—own;

jägat-pate—O master of the worlds.

Please purify my home with the pollen of Your lotus feet. O

master of the worlds, I will not return to my home unless I can

take You with me.

Text 20

çré-bhagavän uväca

gåhaà tavägamiñyämi

hatvä vai yädavähitam

sa-balo bandhavaiù särdhaà

kariñyämi tava priyam

çré-bhagavän uväca—the Supreme Personality of Godhead

said; gåham—home; tava—your; ägamiñyämi—I will

come; hatvä—having killed; vai—indeed;

yädavähitam—the person that harms the Yädavas; sa-balaù—with

Balaräma; bandhavaiù—with My kinsmen;

särdham—with; kariñyämi—I will do; tava—of You;

priyam—the favor.

The Supreme Personality of Godhead said: After I have killed

the king that harms the Yädavas, I will visit your home.

Accompanied by Balaräma and My kindsmen, I will satisfy your

desire.

atha tatra sthite kåñëe

so 'krüro mathuräà gataù

nivedya cedaà kaàçäya

tataù sva-bhavanaà yayau

çré-närada uväca—Çré Närada said; atha—then;

tatra—there; sthite—situated; kåñëe—Kåñëa;

saù—He; akrüraù—Akrüra; mathuräm—to Mathurä;

gataù—gone; nivedya—informing; ca—and;

idam—this; kaàçäya—to Kaàsa; tataù—then; sva-

bhavanam—to his home; yayau—went.

Çré Närada said: Leaving Lord Kåñëa there, Akrüra entered

Mathurä, informed King Kaàsa of what had happened, and then

returned to his home.

athäparähne sa-balaà

govindaà bälakaiù purém

drañöum abhyuditaà vékñya

nando väkyam athäbravét

atha—then; aparähne—in the afternoon; sa-

balam—with Balaräma; govindam—Kåñëa; bälakaiù—with the

boys; purém—the city; drañöum—to see;

abhyuditam—eager; vékñya—seeing; nandaù—Nanda;

väkyam—words; atha—then; abravét—spoke.

Noticing that afternoon that Kåñëa, Balaräma, and the boys

were eager to see Mathurä City, Nanda spoke the following words.

ärjavena puréà vékñyä-

gantavyaà bhavatä kila

na gokulaà viddhi cainaà

kaàsa-räjye mahä-bhaye

ärjavena—in a strauightforward way; purém—the city; vékñya—seeing; ägantavyam—should be returned;

bhavatä—by You; kila—indeed; na—not;

gokulam—Gokula; viddhi—know; ca—and;

enam—this; kaàsa-räjye—the kingdom of Kaàsa; mahä-

bhaye—very fearful.

Look at the city and then quickly return. Know that this is

not Gokula. This is the fearful kingdom of Kaàsa.

tathästu coktvä bhagavän

våddhair nanda-praëoditaiù

gopälair bälakaiù särdhaà

sa-balo gatavän purém

tathä—so; astu—be it; ca—and;

uktvä—saying; bhagavän—the Lord; våddhaiù—with the

elder; nanda-praëoditaiù—sent by nanda;

gopälaiù—gopas; bälakaiù—boys; särdham—with;

sa-balaù—with Balaräma; gatavän—went; purém—to the

city.

Saying, "So be it", and accompanied by Balaräma, the

boys, and some adult gopas sent by Nanda, Lord Kåñëa entered

Mathurä City, . . .

präsädair gagana-sparçair

hema-ratna-khacid-gåhaiù

çobhitäà durga-samyuktäà

devadhäném iva sthitäm

präsädaiù—with palaces; gagana—the sky;

sparçaiù—touching; hema-ratna-khacid-gåhaiù—with mansions of

gold and jewels; çobhitäm—splendid; durga-

samyuktäm—with walls; devadhäném—the capitol of the

demigods; iva—like; sthitäm-situated.

. . . which was surrounded by high walls, and filled with

mansions of gold and jewels and great palaces that touched the

sky, which was like a great city in the celestial planets, . . .

kälindéà ratna-sopänaiç

calad-ürmi-kutühalaiù

alakäm iva çobhäòhyäà

divya-näré-narair yutam

kälindém—the Yamunä; ratna—with jewel;

sopänaiç—stairs; calad-ürmi-kutühalaiù—with turbulent

waves; alakäm—locks of hair; iva—like;

çobhäòhyäm—beautiful; divya-näré-naraiù—beauitful men and

women; yutam—with.

. . . which was filled with handsome men and beautiful women,

and decorated with jewel staircases leading down to the Yamunä's

turbulent waves splendid as black locks of hair.

prekñan chré-mathuräà kåñëo

dhaninäà mandiräëi ca

paçyan gopälakaiù särdhaà

räja-märgaà viveça ha

prekñan—looking; çré-mathuräm—at Çré Mathurä;

kåñëaù—Kåñëa; dhaninäm—of the wealthy; mandiräëi—the

mansions; ca—and; paçyan—seeing; gopälakaiù—the

gopas; särdham—with; räja-märgam—the royal road; viveça—entered; ha—indeed.

As they gazed at the palaces of the wealthy and the other

opulences of Mathurä, Kåñëa and the gopas started to walk on the

king's road.

çrutvägataà taà vasudeva-nandanaà

bahuçrutä vai mathurä-puräìganäù

tyaktvätha karmäëi visåjya täù çiçün

drañöuà vyadhävann udadhià yathäpagäù

çrutvä—hearing; ägatam—arrived; tam—Him;

vasudeva-nandanam—Vasudeva's son; bahuçrutä—learned;

vai—indeed; mathurä-puräìganäù—the women of Mathurä;

tyaktvä—leaving; atha—then; karmäëi—duties;

visåjya—leaving; täù—they; çiçün—children;

drañöum—to see; vyadhävan—running; udadhim—to the

ocean; yathä—like; apagäù—rivers.

Hearing that Vasudeva's son had come, the learned women of

Mathurä at once left their children and all their household

duties and ran to see Kåñëa as rivers run into the ocean.

vinirgatä dvära-kapäöa-deçät

tac cätvarät taà dadåçuù purandhryaù

käçcit—some; tu—indeed; harmyät—from the

plaace; kila—indeed; jäla-deçät—from the lattice; kuòyät—from the wall; tu—indeed; kaçcit—some; paöataù—from the curtains; gaväkñät—from the window; vinirgatä—gone; dvära-kapäöa-deçät—from the doors;

tat—that; cätvarät—from the courtyard; tam—Him;

dadåçuù—saw; purandhryaù—the women of the city.

Some from palaces, some from behind latticeworks, some from

the tops of walls, some from behind curtains, some from windows,

some from doorways, and some from courtyards, the women of

Mathurä gazed at Lord Kåñëa.

O king, as they gazed at Lord Kåñëa, the master of

numberless universes, His face decorated in the front with moving

locks of hair and in the back with a glittering crown, wearing a

yellow cloth wrapped around His waist and over His shoulder,

splendid as a dark cloud with a lightning flash, a vaijayanté

galrand on His chest and a lotus in His hand, wearing swinging

shark-shaped earrings and golden armlets splendid as the rising

sun, and stealing their hearts as He walked before Him, all the

women of Mathurä City fell hopelessly in love with Him.

çré-purandhrya ücuù

aho våndävanaà ramyaà

yatra sannihito hy ayam

dhanyä gopa-gaëäù sarve

paçyanty enaà manoharam

çré-purandhrya ücuù—the women of Mathurä said;

ahaù—Oh; våndävanam—Våndävana; ramyam—beautiful; yatra—where; sannihitaù—stays; hy—indeed;

ayam—He; dhanyä—fortunate; gopa-gaëäù—the gopas; sarve—all; paçyanty—see; enam—Him;

manoharam—handsome.

The women of Mathurä City said: Ah, all the gopas in

beautiful Våndävana are very fortunate again and again to see

such a handsome person.

dhanyä gopa-ramaëyas täs

täbhiù kià sukåtaà kåtam

pibanti yä räsa-raìge

muhuç cäsyädharämåtam

dhanyäù—fortunate; gopa-ramaëyaù—the gs;

täù—they; täbhiù—with them; kim—what?;

sukåtam—pious deeds; kåtam—done; pibanti—drink;

yäù—who; räsa-raìge—in the räsa dance; muhuç—again and

again; ca—and; asya—of Him; adhara—of the

lips; amåtam—the nectar.

The gopés are very fortunate. What pious deeds must they

have performed that in the räsa-dance they could again and again

drink the nectar of Kåñëa's lips?

räja-märge raìga-käraà

rajakaà yäntam unmadam

gopälänumatenaiva

präha taà madhusüdanaù

çré-närada uväca—Çré Närada said; räja-märge—on the

royal road; raìga-käram—a dyer of cloth; rajakam—a

washerman; yäntam—going; unmadam—frantic;

gopälänumatenaiva—with the permission of the gopas;

präha—said; tam—to him; madhusüdanaù—Lord Kåñëa.

Çré Närada said: To please the gopas, Lord Kåñëa spoke the

following words to a washerman and cloth-dyer that was

frantically going on the king's road.

dehi no mitra väsäàsi

ruciräëi mahä-mate

dätus te hi paraà sreyo

bhaviñyati na saàçayaù

dehi—give; naù—to us; mitra—O friend;

väsäàsi—garments; ruciräëi—beautiful; mahä-mate—O

noble-hearted one; dätuù—of the giver; te—of you; hi—indeed; param—great; sreyaù—benefit;

bhaviñyati—will be; na—no; saàçayaù—doubt.

O noble hearted friend, give these beautiful graments to us.

If you give them, you will get a great gift in return. Of this

there is no doubt.

prajvalan kåñëa-väkyena

ghåtenägnir yathä bhåçäm

kaàsa-bhåtyo mahä-duñöaù

prähedaà pathi mädhavam

prajvalan—inflamed; kåñëa-väkyena—by Lord Kåñëa's

words; ghåtena—by ghee; agniù—fire;

yathä—as; bhåçäm—greatly; kaàsa—of Kaàsa;

bhåtyaù—a servant; mahä-duñöaù—a great demon;

präha—spoke; idam—this; pathi—on the road;

mädhavam—to Lord Kåñëa.

Inflamed by Lord Kåñëa's words as fire is inflamed by ghee,

the washerman, who was a great demon and servant of Kaàsa, spoke

to Lord Kåñëa in the middle of the road.

idåçäny eva vasträëi

pitåbhir vaù pitämahaiù

dhäritäni kim udvåttäs

te tu kaupéna-dhärakäù

rajaka uväca—the washerman said; idåçäny—like this; eva—indeed; vasträëi—garments; pitåbhiù—by the

fathers; vaù—of You; pitämahaiù—by the

grandfathers; dhäritäni—worn; kim—what?;

udvåttäù—proud; te—they; tu—indeed; kaupéna-

dhärakäù—the wearers of kaupinas.

The washerman said: O proud wearers of kaupénas, did Your

fathers or grandfathers ever wear clothes like these?

vastra-harän—for stealing garments; aham—I.

O uncivilized people who live in the forest, if you value

your lives, then flee from this city! If you do not, then I will

have you put in jail for stealing my garments.

çré-närada uväca

evaà pravadatas tasya

rajakasya yadüttamaù

jahära mastakaà sadyaù

karägreëaiva lélayä

çré-närada uväca—Çré Närada said; evam—thus;

pravadataù—speaking; tasya—of him; rajakasya—the

washerman; yadüttamaù—Lord Kåñëa; jahära—removed; mastakam—the head; sadyaù—at once; karägreëa—with

the edge of His hand; eva—indeed; lélayä—playfully.

Çré Närada said: As soon as these words were spoken, with

the edge of His hand Lord Kåñëa playfully beheaded the washerman.

taj-jyotiù çré-ghana-çyäme

lénaà jätaà videha-räö

sadyas tad-anugäù sarve

väsaù-koçän visåjya vai

dudruvuù sarvato räjan

çarat-käle yathä ghanäù

gåhétvätma-priye vastre

sthitayo räma-kåñëayaoù

taj-jyotiù—his light; çré-ghana-çyäme—in the dark cloud

of Çré Kåñëa; lénam—merged; jätam—was; videha-

räö—O king of Videha; sadyaù—at once; tad-anugäù—the

washerman's followers; sarve—all; väsaù-koçän—the

wealth of garments; visåjya—abandoning;

vai—indeed; dudruvuù—ran; sarvataù—in all

directions; räjan—O king; çarat-käle—in the autumn

season; yathä—as; ghanaù—clouds;

gåhétvä—taking; ätma-priye—that they like;

vastre—garments; sthitayaù—standing; räma-kåñëayaoù—of

Kåñëa and Balaräma.

O king of Videha, then an effulgence left the washerman's

dead body and entered the dark cloud of Lord Kåñëa. At once the

washerman's assistants dropped the great treasury of opulent

gamrnets and fled in all directions as monsoon clouds flee with

the coming of autumn. Calmly standing there, Kåñëa and Balaräma

took what they liked from the pile of garments.

Text 43

jagåhur gopa-bäläs te

räja-märga-janä api

tad-dhäraëävido bälä

väsäàsi ruciräëi ca

asta-vyastaà paridadhuù

çré-kåñëasya prapaçyataù

jagåhuù—took; gopa-bäläù—the gopa boys;

te—they; räja-märga-janä—the people on the king's road; api—also; tad-dhäraëa-vidaù—aware; bälä—the

boys; väsäàsi—garments; ruciräëi—beautiful;

ca—and; asta-vyastam—left; paridadhuù—took;

çré-kåñëasya—as Çré Kåñëa; prapaçyataù—watched.

The gopa boys took what they wanted, and other boys walking

on the king's road, unaware of what had happened, also took from

the pile of beautiful clothes as Kåñëa and Balaräma placidly

looked on.

Text 44

vékñya tau väyakaù kaçcic

chré-kåñëa-baladevayoù

vicitra-varëair väsobhir

divyaà veñaà cakära ha

vékñya—seeing; tau—Them; väyakaù—weaver;

kaçcic—a certain; çré-kåñëa-baladevayoù—of Çré Kåñëa and

Balaräma; vicitra—wonderful; varëaiù—with colors; väsobhiù—with garments; divyam—splendid;

veñam—dress; cakära—made; ha—indeed.

Then a weaver noticed Kåñëa and Balaräma and at once dressed

Them in beautiful and colorful garments.

Text 45

tathänyeñäà çiçünäà ca

yathä-yogyaà vidhäya saù

räjan paramayä bhaktyä

punaù kåñëaà dadarça ha

tathä—then; anyeñäm—of other; çiçünäm—boys; ca—and; yathä-yogyam—as; vidhäya—placing;

saù—he; räjan—O king; paramayä—with great;

bhaktyä—devotion; punaù—again; kåñëam—to Kåñëa;

dadarça—saw; ha—indeed.

He also dressed the other gopa boys. Then with great

devotion he again gazed at Lord Kåñëa.

Text 46

prasanno bhagaväàs tasmai

pradät särüpyam ätmanaù

balaà çriyaà tathaiçvaryaà

baladevo dadau punaù

prasannaù—pleased; bhagavän—the Supreme Personality of

Godhead; tasmai—to him; pradät—gave; särüpyam—a

transcendental form like His own; ätmanaù—like His own; balam—strength; çriyam—handsomeness; tathä—so; aiçvaryam—opulence; baladevaù—Balaräma;

dadau—gave; punaù—again.

Pleased with Him, Lord Kåñëa gave the weaver a

transcendental form like His own. Then Lord Balaräma gave him

transcendental strength, handsomeness, and opulence like His own.
