Çré Kåñëacandra-darçana

The Sight of Çré Kåñëacandra

Text 1

çré-närada uväca

atha rätryäà vyatétäyäà

mäyä-yoñid-vapur hariù

rädhä-duùkha-praçänty-arthaà

våñabhänor gåhaà yayau

çré-näradaù uväca—Çré Närada said; atha—then;

rätryäm—at night; vyatétäyäm—passed; mäyä-yoñid-

vapuù—trasnformed into a young woman; hariù—Kåñëa;

rädhä—of Rädhä; duùkha—to sufferings;

praçänti—pacification; artham—for the purpose;

våñabhänoù—of King Våñabhänu; gåham—to the home;

yayau—went.

Çré Närada said: When the night had passed, Lord Kåñëa,

again magically transformed into a woman, went to King

Våñabhänu's palace to quiet Rädhä's distress.

Text 2

rädhä tam ägataà vékñya

samutthäyäti-harñitä

dattäsanä vidhänena

püjayäm äsa maithila

rädhä—Rädhä; tam—Him; ägatam—arrived;

vékñya—seeing; samutthäya—rising; ati-harñitä—very

happy; datta—offered; äsanä—a seat;

vidhänena—properly; püjayäm äsa—worshiped; maithila—O

king of Mithilä.

When She saw He had come, Rädhä became very happy. Standing

up, She offered Him a seat and worshiped Him according to custom.

çré-rädhoväca

tvayä vinähaà niçi duùkhitäsaà

tvayy ägatäyäà sakhi labdha-vastu-vat

pürvaà hy apathyasya sukhaà yathä tato

duùkhaà tathä bhämini sat-prasaìgataù

çré-rädhä uväca—Çré Rädhä said; tvayä—You;

vinä—without; aham—I; niçi—at night;

duùkhitä—unhappy; äsam—was; tvayy—in You;

ägatäyäm—come; sakhé—O friend; labdha—attained;

vastu—vaulable; vat—like; pürvam—before;

hy—indeed; apathyasya—of what is not beneficial;

sukham—happiness; yathä—as; tataù—so;

duùkham—unhappiness; tathä—so; bhämini—O beautiful

one; sat-prasaìgataù—from the company.

Çré Rädhä said: I was very unhappy at night without You. O

friend, now that You have come I am like one who has found a

great treasure. O beautiful one, first You made Me happy and then

You made Me sad.

iti çrutvätha tad-väkyaà

vimanä gopadevatä

na kiïcid üce çré-rädhäà

çré-närada uväca—Çré Närada said; iti—thus;

çrutvä—hearing; atha—then; tad-väkyam—Her words; vimanä—sad; gopadevatä—Gopadevatä; na—not;

Rädhä; duùkhitä—unhappy; iva—as if;

vyavasthitä—situated.

Çré Närada said: Hearing these words, Gopadevatä became sad.

As if She were morose, She did not say anything to Çré Rädhä.

vijïäya kheda-sampannäà

rädhikä gopadevatäm

sakhébhiù samvicäryätha

jagäda sneha-tat-parä

vijïäya—understanding; kheda-

sampannäm—unhappy; rädhikä—Rädhä;

gopadevatäm—Gopadevatä; sakhébhiù—by the friends;

samvicärya—considered; atha—then; jagäda—spoke;

sneha-tat-parä—full of affection.

Understanding that Gopadevatä had become unhappy, Rädhä and

Her friends considered the situation. Full of affection, Rädhä

spoke.

vimanäs tvaà kathaà bhadre

vada mäà gopadevate

mäträ bhärträ nanändrä vä

çvaçrä krodhena bhartsitä

çré-rädhä uväca—Çré Rädhä said; vimanäù—unhappy;

tvam—You; katham—why?; bhadre—O beautiful one;

vada—tell; mäm—Me; gopadevate—O Gopadevatä;

mäträ—by Your mother; bhärträ—brother;

nanändrä—sister-in-law; vä—or; çvaçrä—sister;

krodhena—angrily; bhartsitä—rebuked.

Çré Rädhä said: Beautiful one, why are You unhappy? O

Gopadevatä, please tell Me. Did Your mother, brother, sister, or

sister-in-law speak angry words to You?

sapatné-kåta-doñeëa

sva-bhartur virahena vä

anyatra lagna-cittena

vimanäù kià manohare

sapatné—by a co-wife; kåta—done; doñeëa—by a

fault; sva-bhartuù—of Your own brother; virahena—by

separation; vä—or; anyatra—somewhere else;

lagna—placed; cittena—heart; vimanäù—unhappy;

kim—why?; manohare—O beautiful one.

Did a co-wife fault You? Are You separated from Your

brother? Does something else trouble Your heart? O beautiful one,

why are You unhappy?

märga-khedena vä kaccid

vihvaläbhüd rujäthavä

çéghraà vada mahä-bhäge

svasya duùkhasya käraëam

märga—on the path; khedena—by trouble; va—or; kaccit—something; vihvalä—agitated;

abhüt——became; rujä—with sickness; athavä—or;

çéghram—for a long time; vada—tell; mahä-bhäge—O

beautiful one; svasya—own; duùkhasya—suffering; käraëam—the cause.

Did some trouble happen on the way here? Do You have a

sickness? O beautiful one, please tell me at length why You are

unhappy.

kåñëa-bhaktam åte vipraà

yena kenäpi kutsitam

kathitaà te 'tha rambhoru

tac-cikitsäà karomy aham

kåñëa—of Lord Kåñëa; bhaktam—a devotee;

åte—without; vipram—a brähmaëa; yena kenäpi—by

someone; kutsitam—treated with contempt;

kathitam—spoken; te—by You; atha—then;

rambhoru—O girl whose thighs are like banana trees; tac-

cikitsäm—the cure for that; karomy—do; aham—I will.

Did some brähmaëa who was not a devotee of Kåñëa speak ill

to You? O girl whose thighs are like banana trees, describe it,

and I will cure Your unhappiness.

Text 10

gajäçvädéni ratnäni

vasträëi ca dhanäni ca

mandiräëi viciträëi

gåhäëa tvaà yadécchasi

gaja—elephants; açva—horses; ädéni—beginning

with; ratnäni—jewels; vasträëi—garments;

ca—and; dhanäni—wealth; ca—and;

mandiräëi—palaces; viciträëi—wonderful;

gåhäëa—take; tvam—You; yadi—if; icchasi—You

wish.

If You wish, please take many elephants, horses, jewels,

costly garments, coins, and wonderful palaces.

dhanaà dattvä tanuà rakñet

tanuà dattvä trapaà vyadhät

dhanaà tanuà trapaà dadyän

mitra-käryärtham eva hi

dhanaà dattvä ca satataà

rakñet präëän nirantaram

dhanam—wealth; dattvä—having given;

tanum—body; rakñet—may protect; tanum—body;

dattvä—having given; trapam—modesty; vyadhät—may

give; dhanam—wealth; tanum—body;

trapam—modesty; dadyän—may guve; mitra-käryärtham—for

the benefit of a friend; eva—indeed; hi—indeed; dhanam—welath; dattvä—having given; ca—and;

satatam—always; rakñet—may protect; präëän—life; nirantaram—always.

By giving wealth one preserves another's body. By preserving

the body one gives modesty. For the welfare of a friend, one

should give Her wealth and thus preserve Her body and Her

modesty. By always giving wealth one always preserves the lives

of Her friends.

Text 12

yo mitratäà niñkapaöaà karoti

niñkäraëaà dhanyatamaù sa eva

vidhäya maitréà kapaöaà vidadhyät

taà lampaöaà hetu-paöaà naöaà dhik

yaù—one who; mitratäm—friendship;

niñkapaöam—sincere; karoti—does;

niñkäraëam—unmotivated; dhanyatamaù—the most fortunate; sa—sh; eva—indeed; vidhäya—placing;

maitrém—friendship; kapaöam—false;

vidadhyät—places; tam—that; lampaöam—cheater;

hetu-paöam—false reason; naöam—and actor; dhik—fie.

One who is a sincere, unselfish friend is glorious. One who

is not sincere in her friendship is a cheater, or an actor. Fie

on her!

tasyäù prema-vacaù çrutvä

bhagavän gopadevatä

prahasann äha räjendra

çré-rädhäà kérti-nandiném

tasyäù—of Her; prema-vacaù—words of love;

çrutvä—hearing; bhagavän—the Lord;

gopadevatä—Gopadevatä; prahasann—smiling;

äha—said; räjendra—O king; çré-rädhäm—to Çré

Rädhä; kérti-nandiném—the daughter of Kérti.

O king, when He heard Her words of love, Lord Gopadevatä

smiled and spoke to Kérté's daughter Rädhä.

çré-gopadevatoväca

rädhe vrajan sänu-gires taöéñu

saìkoca-véthéñu manoharäsu

yäntéà svato mäà dadhi-vikrayärthaà

rurodha märge nava-nanda-putraù

çré-gopadevatä uväca—Çré Gopadevatä said; rädhe—O

Rädhä; vräjan—going; sänu-gireù—of the mountain; taöéñu—on the sides; saìkoca—narrow; véthéñu—on the

path; manoharäsu—beautiful; yäntém—going;

svataù—personally; mäm—to Me; dadhi—yogurt;

vikraya—selling; artham—for the purpose;

rurodha—stopped; märge—om the path; nava-nanda-

putraù—Nanda's son.

Çré Gopadevatä said: As He was walking on the beautiful

narrow pathways by the hillside, and I was also walking there to

sell some yogurt, Nanda's son, Kåñëa, stopped Me.

Text 15

vaàçé-dharo vetra-karaù kare mäà

tvaraà gåhétvä prahasan vilajjaù

mahyaà karädäna-dhanäya dänaà

dehéti jalpan vipine rasajïaù

vaàçé—a flute; dharaù—holding; vetra—a stick; karaù—in His hand; kare—in the hand; mäm—Me;

tvaram—quickly; gåhétvä—taking; prahasan—laughing; vilajjaù—shameless; mahyam—to Me; karädäna-

dhanäya—to pay atoll; dänam—payment; dehi—give;

iti—thus; jalpan—speaking; vipine—in the forest; rasajïaù—expert at tasting nectar.

Carrying a flute and holding a stick in His hand, the

shameless fellow grabbed My hand, laughed, and said: "Now

You must pay a tax to Me!" Talking in this way, He enjoyed in the

forest.

Text 16

tubhyaà na dasyämi kadäpi dänaà

svayambhuve gorasa-lampaöäya

evaà mayokte vacane 'tha bhäëòaà

nétvä viçérëé-kåtavän sa dadhnaù

tubhyaàto You; na—not; dasyämi—I will give; kadäpi—ever; dänam—money;

svayambhuve—independent; gorasa—for milk products;

lampaöäya—greedy; evam—thus; mayä—by Me;

ukte—spoken; vacane—words; atha—then;

bhäëòam—the pot; nétvä—taking; viçérëé-

kåtavän—broke; saù—He; dadhnaù—of yogurt.

When I said, "I will never pay anything to You, a

rake greedy after yogurt", He took the yogurt-pot and broke it.

Text 17

bhäëòaà sa bhittvä dadhi kià ca pétvä

nétvottaréyaà mama ced uréyam

nandéçvarädrer vidiçaà jagäma

tenäham äräd vimanäù sma jätä

bhäëòaàthe pot; sa—He; bhittvä—breaking;

dadhi—yogurt; kià ca—furthermore; pétvä—drinking; nétvä—taking; uttaréyam—bodice; mama—My;

cet—if; uréyam—on the breasts; nandéçvarädreù—of

Nandéçvara Hill; vidiçam—in the direction;

jagäma—went; tena—by Him; aham—I; ärät—from

afar; vimanäù—depressed; sma—indeed;

jätä—become.

After breaking the pot, He drank the yogurt, grabbed My

bodice, and then ran off toward Nandéçvara Hill. That is why I am

unhappy.

Text 18

jätyä sa gopaù kila kåñëa-varëo

'dhuné na véro na hi çéla-rüpaù

yasmiàs tvayä prema kåtaà su-çéle

tyajäçu nirmohanam adya kåñëam

jätyä—by birth; sa—He; gopaù—a gopa;

kila—indeed; kåñëa-varëaù—a çüdra; adhuné—now;

na—not; véraù—hero; na—not; hi—indeed;

çéla-rüpaù—handsome; yasmin—in which; tvayä—by

You; prema—love; kåtam—done; su-çéle—O saintly

girl; tyaja—abandon; äçu—at once;

nirmohanam—free from illusion; adya—today;

kåñëam—Kåñëa.

Although by birth He is a gopa, today He has become a low-

class çüdra. He is not a hero, and He does not have good

character. O saintly girl, today You should be free of illusion.

Give up Your love for this Kåñëa.

itthaà sa-vairaà paruñaà vacas tac

chrutvä ca rädhä våñabhänu-nandiné

su-vismitä väkya-pade sarasvaté-

padaà smayanté nijagäda täà prati

ittham—thus; sa-vairam—with hatred;

paruñam—harsh; vacaù—words; tac—that;

chrutvä—hearing; ca—and; rädhä—Rädhä;

våñabhänu—of King Våñabhänu; nandiné—the daughter;

su-vismitä—; väkya-pade—in the words; sarasvaté—of

eloquence; padam—the words; smayanté—smiling;

nijagäda—spoke; täm—Her; prati—to.

Surprised to hear these harsh and hateful words, King

Våñabhänu's daughter Rädhä smiled and eloquently spoke to Her.

yat-präptaye vidhi-hara-pramukhäs tapanti

vahnau tapaù paramayä nija-yoga-rétyä

dattaù çukaù kapila äsurir aìgirä yat-

pädäravinda-makaranda-rajaù spåçanti

taà kåñëam ädi-puruñaà paripürëa-devaà

lélävatäram ajam arti-haraà janänäm

bhü-bhüri-hära-bharaëäya satäà çubhäya

jätaà vinindasi kathaà sakhi durvinéte

çré-rädhä uväca—Çré Rädhä said; yat-präptaye—to attain

whom; vidhi-hara-pramukhäù—headed by Brahmä and Çiva; tapanti—perform austerities; vahnau—in the fire;

tapaù—burning; paramayä—with great; nija-yoga-

rétyä—yoga activities; dattaù—Dattätreya;

çukaù—Çukadeva; kapila—Kapila; äsuriù—Asuri;

aìgirä—and Aìgirä; yat—of whom; pädäravinda—of the

lotus feet; makaranda-rajaù—the pollen;

puruñam—the original Supreme Personality of Godhead;

paripürëa-devam—the perfect Lord; lélävatäram—who has

descended to enjoy transcendental pastimes;

ajam—unborn; arti—of miseries; haram—the remover; janänäm—of the people; bhü—of the earth; bhüri—the

great; bhära—burden; haraëäya——to remove;

satäm—of the devotees; çubhäya—for the welfare;

jätam—born; vinindasi—You criticise; katham—why?; sakhi—O friend; durvinéte—uncivilized and foolish.

Çré Rädhä said: Foolish friend, why do You criticize Lord

Kåñëa, the original and perfect Supreme Personality of Godhead

who, to enjoy pastimes, remove the earth's burden, and bring

auspiciousness to the devotees, has descended to the earth, to

attain whom Brahmä Çiva and all the demigods perform great yoga

austerities, and the honey pollen of whose lotus feet Dattätreya,

Çukadeva, Kapila, Asuri, and Aìgirä touch?

Text 22

gäù pälayanti satataà rajaso gaväà ca

gaìgäà spåçanti na japanti gaväà su-nämnäm

prekñanty ahar-niçam alaà su-mukhaà gaväà ca

jätiù parä na viditä bhuvi gopa-jäteù

gäù—the cows; pälayanti—protect;

satatam—always; rajasaù—the dust; gaväm—of the

cows; ca—and; gaìgäm—the Gaìgä;

spåçanti—touch; na—not; japanti—chant; gaväm—of

the cows; su-nämnäm—the names; prekñanty—see;

ahar-niçam—day and night; alam—greatly; su-

mukham—handsome face; gaväm—of the cows; ca—and; jätiù—birth; parä—greater; na—not;

viditä—known; bhuvi—on the earth; gopa-jäteù—than

birth as a gopa.

The gopas protect the cows. Without touching water, they are

covered by cows' dust. The chant the cows' names. Day and night

they see the cows' beautiful faces. On this earth no birth better

than a gopas' birth.

Text 23

tat-kåñëa-varëa-vilasat-su-kaläà samékñya

tasmin vilagna-manasä su-sukhaà vihäya

unmatta-vad vrajati dhävanti nélakaëöho

bibhrat kaparda-viña-bhasma-kapäla-sarpän

tat—of Him; kåñëa—the dark; varëa—color;

vilasat—glistening; su-kalam—beautiful;

samékñya—seeing; tasmin—in that; vilagna—attached; manasä—minds; su-sukham—happy; vihäya—giving

up; unmatta-vat—like a madman; vrajati—go;

dhävanti—run; nélakaëöhaù—Çiva; bibhrat—holding; kaparda—matted hair; viña—poison; bhasma—ashes; kapäla—skulls; sarpän—and snakes.

Gazing at Kåñëa's dark handsomeness, Çiva became attached to

Him. Giving up all normal happiness, wearing matted hair,

drinking poison, covered with ashes, and decorated with snakes

and skulls, Çiva now walks and runs about like a madman.

Text 24

svarloka-siddha-muni-yakña-marud-gaëänäà

päläù samasta-nara-kinnara-näga-näthäù

yat-päda-padmam aniçaà praëipatya bhaktyä

labdha-çriyaù kila balià pradaduù sma tasmai

svarloka—of Svarloka; siddha—the siddhas;

muni—munis; yakña—yaksas; marud-gaëänäm—and

maruts; päläù—the protector; samasta—all;

nara—humans; kinnara—khinnbaras; näga—and nagas; näthäù—the Lord; yat-päda-padmam—whose lotus feet;

aniçam—day and night; praëipatya—bowing down;

bhaktyä—with devotion; labdha—attained;

çriyaù—glory; kila—indeed; balim—offerings;

pradaduù—gave; sma—indeed; tasmai—to Him.

He is the protector of the svarlokas, siddhas, munis,

yakñas, and maruts. He is the master of all the humans, kinnaras,

and nägas. Day and night the glorious great souls devotedly bow

before His lotus feet and make offerings to Him.

Text 25

vatsägha-käliya-bakärjuna-dhenukänäà

äcakraväta-çakaöäsura-pütanänäm

eñäà vadhaù kim uta tasya yaço murärer

yaù koöiço 'ëòa-nicayodbhava-näça-hetuù

vatsa—Vatsasura; agha—Agha; käliya—Kaliya;

baka—Baka; arjuna—the arjuna trees; dhenukänäm—and

Djenuka; äcakraväta—Trnavarta;

çakaöäsura—Satakatasura; pütanänäm—and Putana; eñäm—of

them; vadhaù—the death; kim uta—indeed;

tasya—of Him; yaçaù—glory; muräreù—of Kåñëa;

yaù—how great?; koöiçaù—many millions; aëòa-

nicaya—universes; udbhava—creation; näça—and

destruction; hetuù—the cause.

He killed Vatsäsura, Agha, Käliya, Baka, the arjuna trees,

Dhenuka, Tåëävärta, Sakaöäsura, and Pütanä! How great are His

glories? He is the creator and destroyer of many millions of

universes!

bhaktät priyo na viditaù puruñottamasya

çambhur vidhir na ca ramä na ca rauhiëeyaù

bhaktän anuvrajati bhakti-nibaddha-cittas

cüòä-maëiù sakala-loka-janasya kåñëaù

bhaktät—than a devotee; priyaù—more dear;

na—not; viditaù—known; puruñottamasya—of the Supreme

Personality of Godhead; çambhuù—of çiva;

vidhiù—Brahmä; na—not; ca—and; ramä—the goddess

of fortune; na—not; ca—and;

rauhiëeyaù—Balaräma; bhaktän—the devotees;

anuvrajati—follows; bhakti—with devotion;

nibaddha—bound; cittaù—heart; cüòä-maëiù—the crest

jewel; sakala-loka-janasya—of all people;

kåñëaù—Kåñëa.

To Him, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, no one is more

dear than His devotee. Neither Çiva, Brahmä, Lakñmé, nor Balaräma

is more dear. Lord Kåñëa, the crest-jewel of all persons, His

heart now bound with love, becomes the humble follower of His

devotees.

Text 27

gacchan nijaà janam anu prapunäti lokän

ävedayan hari-jane sva-rucià mahätmä

tasmäd atéva bhajatäà bhagavän mukundo

muktià dadäti na kadäpi su-bhakti-yogam

gacchan—going; nijam—to His own;

janam—people; anu—following; prapunäti—pruifies; lokän—the people; ävedayan—proclaiming; hari-

jane—for the devotees; sva-rucim—His own love;

mahätmä—the Lord; tasmät—from that;

atéva—greatlly; bhajatäm—of the devotees; bhagavän—the

Lord; mukundaù—Mukunda; muktim—liberation;

dadäti—gives; na—not; kadäpi—ever; su-bhakti-

yogam—pure devotional service.

Following His devotees here and there, He purifies the

worlds. He loudly declares His love for His devotees. To those

who worship Him, Lord Kåñëa easily gives liberation, but He does

not easily give pure devotional service.

çré-gopadevatoväca

rädhe tvadéya-dhiñaëä dhiñaëaà hasanté

väëéà çrutià prakuçalena viòambayanté

aträgamiñyati yadätha hariù pareçaù

satyaà dadäti vacanaà tava devi manye

çré-gopadevatä uväca—Çré Gopadevatä said; rädhe—O

Rädhä; tvadéya—of You; dhiñaëä—intelligence;

dhiñaëam—Båhaspati; hasanté—laughs; väëém—words; çrutim—the Vedas; prakuçalena—expertly;

viòambayanté—mocking; atra—here; ägamiñyati—will

come; yadä—then; atha—then; hariù—the Supreme

Personality of Godhead; pareçaù—the SZupreme Lord;

satyam—truth; dadäti—gives; vacanam—words;

tava—of You; devi—O goddess; manye—I think.

O Rädhä, Your intelligence laughs at Båhaspati and Your

works cleverly mock the Vedas. When the Supreme Personality of

Godhead Himself comes here and confirms Your words, only then

will I believe them.

kim—what?; kärayämi—I will make; bhavatém—You;

beautiful eyebrows; cet—if; ägamaù—the Vedas;

na—not; hi—indeed; bhavet—may be; vana-

mälinaù—of He who wears a forest garland; svam—own;

sarvam—all; dhanam—wealth; ca—and;

bhavanam—home; na—not; dadämi—I give; tubhyam—to

You.

Çré Rädhä said: O girl with the beautiful eyebrows, tell Me,

if the Supreme Personality of Godhead personally comes here, what

will I do about You? If the Lord who wears a forest garland

comes, I will not be able to give My palace and all My wealth to

You.

çré-närada uväca—Çré Närada said; atha—then;

rädhä—Rädhä; samutthäya—rising; natvä—bowing;

çré-nanda-nandanam—the son of Nanda; upaviçya äsane—giving a

seat; dadhyau—gave; dhyäna—in meditation;

stimita—closed; locanä—eyes.

Çré Närada said: Rädhä stood up, bowed before Kåñëa, and

gave Him a seat. Then She closed Her eyes in meditation.

utkaëöhitäà sveda-yuktäà

bäñpa-kaëöhéà priyäà hariù

açru-pürëa-mukhéà vékñya

bibhrat svaà pauruñéà tanum

paçyanténäà sakhénäà ca

sahasä bhakta-vatsalaù

rädhäà präha prasannätmä

megha-gambhérayä girä

bhakta—to the devotees; vatsalaù—affectionate;

rädhäm—to Rädhä; präha—spoke; prasanna—pleased;

ätmä—at heart; megha—clouds; gambhérayä—deep;

girä—with words.

Watching His beloved perspiring and full of longings, and

watching Her face fill with tears than ran down Her neck, as Her

friends looked on, Lord Kåñëa, who is kind to His devotees,

became pleased at heart with Her, suddenly manifested His own

male form, and spoke to Her in a voice deep as thunder.

rambhoru candra-vadane vraja-sundaréçe

rädhe priye navala-yauvana-mäna-çéle

unmélya netram api paçya samägataà mäà

türëaà tvayä madhurayä ca giropahütam

çré-kåñëa uväca—Çré Kåñëa said; rambhoru—O girl whose

thighs are like banana trees; candra-vadane—O girl whose

face is like the moon; vraja-sundaréçe—O queen of the

beautiful girls of Vraja; rädhe—O Rädhä; priye—O

beloved; navala-yauvana-mäna-çéle—O girl with all the

virtues of youth; unmélya—opening; netram—eyes; api—also; paçya—look; samägatam—come;

mäm—Me; türëam—at once; tvayä—by You;

madhurayä—sweet; ca—and; girä—withwords;

upahütam—called.

Çré Kåñëa said: O girl whose thighs are like banana trees, O

girl whose face is like the moon, O queen of the beautiful girls

of Vraja, O Rädhä, O beloved, O girl with all the virtues of

youth, open Your eyes! Look! Called by Your sweet words, I have

come!

ägaccha kåñëa iti väkyam ataù çrutaà me

sadyo visåjya nija-gokula-gopa-våndam

vaàçé-vaöäc ca yamunä-nikaöät pradhävaàs

tvat-prétaye 'tha lalane 'tra samägato 'smi

ägaccha—come; kåñëa—O Kåñëa; iti—thus;

väkyam—wordw; ataù—then; çrutam—heard; me—by

Me; sadyaù—at once; visåjya—abandoning;

nija—own; gokula—Gokula; gopa-våndam—gopas;

vaàçé-vaöät—from vaàçéväöa; ca—and; yamunä-

nikaöät—from the Yamunä's shore; pradhävan—running;

tvat—You; prétaye—for the pleasure; atha—then;

lalane—O beautiful one; atra—here; samägataù—come; asmi—I am.

When I heard You say, "O Kåñëa, please come", I at

once left the gopas at Vaàçéväöa by the Yamunä's shore and ran

here to please You. O beautiful one, I have come.

mayy ägate sati gati gatä sakhi-rüpiëé

kä yakñyäsuré sura-vadhü kila kinnaré vä

mäyävaté chalayituà bhavatéà ca tasmäd

viçväsa eva na vidheya uraìga-patnyäm

mayy—when I; ägate—had come; sati—O saintly

girl; gati—gone; gatä—gone; sakhi-rüpiëé—in the

form of a gopé firend; kä—who?; yakñy—a yaksi;

äsuré—and demoness; sura-vadhü—a demigoddess;

kila—kindeed; kinnaré—kinnaré; vä—or; mäyävaté—a

magician; chalayitum—tocover; bhavatém—You;

ca—and; tasmät—therefore; viçväsa—belief;

eva—indeed; na—not; vidheya—should be done;

uraìga-patnyäm—in a snake-girl.

O saintly one, I am here. What yakñé, asuré, demigoddess, or

kinnaré could have fooled You with magic as I have? You would not

have believed them. Nor would You have believed a snake-goddess

either.

Text 36

çré-närada uväca

atha rädhä harià dåñövä

natvä tat-päda-paìkajam

mudam äpa paraà räjan

sadyaù pürëa-manorathä

çré-närada uväca—Çré Närada said; atha—then;

rädhä—Rädhä; harim—to Kåñëa; dåñövä—seeing;

natvä—bowing down; tat-päda-paìkajam—to His lotus feet; mudam—happiness; äpa—attained; param—great;

räjan—O king; sadyaù—at once; pürëa—fulfilled;

manorathä—desire.

Çré Närada said: O king, Rädhä gazed at Kåñëa and bowed

before His lotus feet. Her desires fulfilled, She was very happy.

evaà çré-kåñëacandrasya

caritäny adbhutäni ca

yaù çåëoti naro bhaktyä

sa kåtärtho bhaven naraù

evam—thus; çré-kåñëacandrasya—of Çré Kåñëacandra; caritäny—the pastimes; adbhutäni—wonderful;

ca—and; yaù—who; çåëoti—hears; naraù—a

person; bhaktyä—with devotion; sa—he;

kåtärthaù—successful; bhaven—becomes; naraù—a person.

A person who with devotion hears these wonderful pastimes of

Lord Kåñëacandra attains the supreme goal of life.
